Patient Transport Services
Our telephone contact hours are Monday to Friday from 9 to 5 excluding Banks Holidays.
Before you ask us to arrange a lift for you, please check with your friends, family and neighbours to see if they can help. You'll find a transport request form at the bottom of this page.
Is it a free service?
We do need donations to cover operating costs for the service we provide,
Our volunteer drivers can claim 45p per mile for the round trip.
This is expense reimbursement, the amount has been agreed by HMRC.
We ask users of the service to give their driver a donation towards the cost of the journey.
Our service covers the main hospitals in the local area (Luton and Dunstable, Milton Keynes, Stoke Mandeville, Bedford, High Wycombe and Amersham) as well as other locations where outpatient clinics are held. Our friendly call handlers can give you more details.
Subject to Driver availabilty, Saturday and Sunday Hospital Clinic appointment requests can be made by giving at least 72 hours notice.
Minimum Donation Levels
Milton Keynes. £12
Luton and Dunstable £12
Stoke Mandeville. £15
High Wycombe. £30
Parking costs incurred should also be included in any donation made unless a Blue Badge has been used , or our Volunteer Driver has been able to use the Hospital Car Park, in which case, LBVPT gets free parking.
Will you wait for me?
Our drivers will collect you and take you safely to your appointment. If you'd like us to, we'll escort you to the right department.
We are happy to wait with you there or, if you're going to be a long time, we can come back to collect you later.
If we can't stay with you, we'll give you a number to call us on once you are ready to go back home.
Blue Badge Holders
If you have a valid Blue Badge, please bring it with you for your trip. This will allow your driver to park closer to the hospital entrance in most cases, and to park in a disabled parking bay which is often free of charge.
We will always return the badge to you when we take you home.
Patient Transport Request
PLEASE NOTE we need at least 48 hours notice to arrange your lift. Our service is available on Monday to Friday, nominally from 0800 to 1600 hours.
Subject to Driver availability, Saturday and Sunday Hospital Clinic appointment requests can be made by giving at least 72 hours notice.
